DUBAI: The 44th edition of GITEX Global, the world’s largest tech and startup event, officially kicks off today at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). 

Running from October 14 to 18, GITEX Global 2024 promises to redefine the digital economy, spotlighting artificial intelligence (AI), data, cloud computing, and other technological innovations that will shape the future of industries worldwide.

With over 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors from more than 180 countries, the event solidifies Dubai’s standing as a global tech hub. This year’s edition will focus heavily on AI, with over 3,500 companies showcasing innovations in AI and its transformative potential across various sectors.

Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of the DWTC, says this year’s event will witness groundbreaking collaborations, providing competitive advantages for nations and businesses racing toward digital supremacy.

What is GITEX Global 2024?

GITEX (Gulf Information Technology Exhibition) Global is the largest technology event in the world, featuring an expansive lineup of tech companies, startups, investors, and thought leaders. Established over four decades ago, the event has evolved into a global platform that drives conversations, partnerships, and breakthroughs in the digital economy.

This year’s theme, "Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy," aligns with the global push toward AI adoption, with the market expected to reach $621 billion in 2024 and grow to a staggering $2.7 trillion by 2032. Key technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, blockchain, and cloud computing will also take center stage.

GITEX Global is not just an exhibition—it’s an industry-defining event that paves the way for the future of AI, digital finance, health tech, and educational technology. For five days, the world’s brightest minds and top organisations will convene in Dubai to explore cutting-edge innovations and investment opportunities.

Who is participating in GITEX Global 2024?

GITEX Global 2024 boasts its largest-ever participation, with over 400 government and digital agencies from around the world. Exhibitors range from global tech giants like Adobe, Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Dell, Google, Huawei, Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle, and Salesforce, to smaller but equally ambitious startups aiming to disrupt the market.

Key regional players like Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council and G42 Group will also be at the forefront of discussions on AI development.

In addition to well-known participants, new entries from countries like Austria, Singapore, and Kazakhstan will be showcasing their innovations, contributing to the international flavor of the event. Expand North Star, running parallel to GITEX, will serve as the world’s largest startup and investment event, connecting new tech entrepreneurs with potential partners and investors.

AI in Focus at GITEX Global 2024

A key focus of this year’s GITEX is the global AI economy. With the world’s biggest tech companies investing heavily in AI, the event will feature more than 120 hours of content focused on AI and deep tech, addressing its impact on industries like healthcare, finance, and education.

This year also marks the launch of the region’s largest Data Centre Symposium, where leading names like Datalec, Kerno, Khazna, and Schneider Electric will share insights on the growing demand for data storage in the wake of AI’s rapid expansion.

As the digital landscape shifts towards greater AI adoption, GITEX Global will highlight breakthroughs in automation, AI-driven customer experience solutions, and intelligent business processes. The world’s largest startup pitch competition, Supernova Challenge 2.0, will also return with $200,000 in prizes for the most innovative AI startups.

Pakistan takes center stage at GITEX Global 2024, recognised as the 'Tech Destination of the Year.' With a delegation of 24 leading IT companies, the country is poised to showcase its capabilities in AI, software development, and cloud computing. The recognition of Pakistan as a rising digital economy signals its growing influence in the global tech landscape.

The Pakistani delegation will utilise a 156-square-meter exhibition space to connect with global tech leaders and investors, further boosting the country’s potential for international collaborations. As the global tech ecosystem evolves, Pakistan is rapidly positioning itself as a significant player, with ambitions to become a leader in digital transformation and entrepreneurship.
